This fortification have been constructed during the period of board of empress Anna Ioannovny. Today the complex carries her name.  At first the idea about buildings of northwest strengthening belonged to Peter I. Under its instructions the first Russian commandant of Vyborg Grigory Сhernyshev has started to restore old Swedish fortification constructions on approaches to a city from outside the Vyborg gulf.

Great empress Catherine II becomes the first in expositions of new exhibition centre "Hermitage in Vyborg". Russian queen - the  founder of the St.-Petersburg Hermitage - in products of different genres of arts from a collection of the state museum will visit our city in this summer and will stay three months. As it is known in a building on street Ladanova, 1 was the art school and a museum of fine arts settled down. The Vyborg art school has moved here some years ago, and now here there will be also showrooms.
